Marquette, Michigan for Cities: Skylines.
Marquette was settled in the 1840s as an iron mining town. Some of my own ancestors moved to the US to work in the iron mines near Marquette. There are still some mines in the area, but the city is now more of a tourist destination, with its lakefront, wilderness, and mountains. It currently has a population of more than 20,000 permanent residents, and is home to Northern Michigan University, which has about 10,000 students.
The highways, and the roundabout near the starting square, are closely inspired by the city’s real life alignment. Terrain imported with terrain.party.
